...のすぐ後に続いて

hard = 空間または時間が非常に接近している、近い(very near or close in space or time)


文例:
This has wrong-footed central banks. Assuming that rising prices would follow hard on the heels of a jobs boom.

これで中央銀行はつまづいた。失業率の低下(jobs boom)が物価の上昇(rising prices)に直結すると決めつけてしまったのだ。
